Our work

Projects across Western Canada.

A selection of the geotechnical challenges we have solved, from residential sites to complex infrastructure across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.

Rock revetment along the shoreline at Helijet International Terminal, Victoria Harbour
Victoria, B.C.

Helijet Terminal Revetment

Rock Revetment Design Shoreline Protection Construction Guidance

Located at the Helijet International Terminal along Victoria Harbour, this project strengthened the shoreline against active erosion threatening the terminal. Coast Geotechnical designed a rock revetment using large, interlocking boulders placed over a protective base layer to absorb wave energy and stabilize the slope. Construction was completed from the water side with staged excavation of the existing revetment, requiring careful coordination around tides and ongoing heliport operations.

Spirit Bay Moorage Facility

Marine Pile Design Pile Foundations Dynamic Wave Loading

Coast Geotechnical provided geotechnical engineering for a new moorage facility at the Western Canada Marine Response Corporation's Spirit Bay operation. The barge accommodates three vessels, including the K.J. Gardner, Canada's largest-ever spill response vessel. Given the scale of the moorage loads, Coast Geotechnical worked with CMO Consultants to design large-diameter steel marine piles capable of managing dynamic wave and storm surge forces. Several structural options were evaluated, with the selected pile configuration best suited to the site's exposure and loading conditions.

Multi-use Trail

Temporary Excavation Design Construction Sequencing Field Reviews

This 25-kilometre accessible trail runs through the Long Beach Unit of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, within the traditional territories of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation and Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ (Ucluelet First Nation). Coast Geotechnical designed temporary excavations for challenging sections, advised on construction sequencing, and provided field reviews during construction.

Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex

PDA Testing Pile Foundations Geotechnical Testing

This new 95,000 square foot facility will expand community access to ice sports in Surrey's Cloverdale neighbourhood. Coast Geotechnical provided geotechnical testing services for the pile foundations, including Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) testing on approximately 25 test and production piles to help address challenging ground conditions.

Parker Beach Slope Stabilization

Slope Stability Analysis Subsurface Investigation Sheet Pile Wall Design

This project addressed an active landslide and failing revetment along Parker Avenue, where wave erosion and slope instability threatened nearby homes and shoreline. Coast Geotechnical completed subsurface investigations, slope stability analysis, and design of stabilization measures including a reworked boulder revetment and tied-back sheet pile wall.
